The Fox River Valley Hunting Retriever Club (FRVHRC) is a part of a large international network of clubs based in the United States and Canada. The FRVHRC is a nonprofit organization located in the Chicago, IL area, with the majority of its members in the surrounding Illinois region. The club is associated with the United Kennel Club (UKC) Hunting Retriever Hunt Test Program.

Membership in the FRVHRC primarily consists of upland game and waterfowl hunters who strongly believe that one of the best conservation tools available is a well-trained hunting retriever. As such, the FRVHRC focus is to aid hunters in the training of their dogs to become more productive retrievers and therefore reduce the number of game birds lost during a day a field by hunters with poorly trained or no dogs at all.

The FRVHRC achieves these goals in a number of ways. The FRVHRC holds "Fun Hunts" for its members and all interested sportsmen and women. The hunts are designed to allow the average retriever owner the occasion to test their dog's abilities. Furthermore, the FRVHRC holds informal training sessions. These sessions are generally conducted by members of the club to assist you in the training and testing improvements in your retriever.

The informal sessions are for dogs of all ages (puppies to old timers). Small groups of members assist each other in the training process. We only ask that, when asked to help, you do so. We all want to enjoy the training and fun of seeing our dogs improve.

Each year, along with the fun hunts, the FRVHRC sponsors a licensed UKC field hunt test. These hunts are different from the traditional field trials in that dogs compete against a standard of performance rather than against one another.

Dogs successfully passing both a land and a water test earn ribbons, points and titles in three categories: Started, Seasoned, Finished retriever levels.

UKC titles earned include Hunting Retriever (HR), Hunting Retriever Champion (HRCH), and Grand Hunting Retriever Champion (GRHRCH).
